In some images it looks like President Newnham is pouring a bottle of wine (or other liquid) on the canoe. In later shots, two people are canoeing in the pond while the group looks on.One print has a typed caption attached to it which reads "The Launching of the Concrete Canoe at Finch on May 4...then on to the races at Sheridan College on May 12 where Seneca was the overall winner with the two fastest heats of the day. Twelve canoes participated from within the College system, plus the University of Toronto and Ryerson Polytechnical Institute."
